Windows NT 4 Setup
(Note: if your computer is
connected to a LAN, some of these settings may not be appropriate. You should
consult with your Network Administor before making changes.)
Step 1
- If the TCP/IP protocol
is installed, you can proceed with step 2. If the TCP/IP protocol is not
installed, double-click Network in Control Panel, click the Protocols tab,
click Add, click TCP/IP Protocol, click OK, and then follow the instructions
on your screen.
- In My Computer,
double-click Dial-Up Networking.
- If you have run Dial-Up
Networking before, click New to create a new phonebook entry for
ATXL.NET.
If this is the first time you have run Dial-Up Networking, you receive the
following message: The phonebook is empty. Press OK to add an entry. Click OK.
Under Name The New
Phonebook Entry, type "The Connect! Corporation", and then click
Next.
Click the I Am Calling
The Internet check box to select it, and then click Next.
Enter
the phone number (804 817 2895),
click Next, and then click Finish.
Click More, and then
click Edit Entry And Modem Properties.
Click the Server tab.
Ensure that Dial-up Server Type is set to PPP, Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus,
Internet.
Click TCP/IP Settings,
modify the settings to match the ones listed below, and then click OK.
Step 2
- Primary name server:
216.174.10.2
Secondary name server:
216.174.10.6
IP Address: Server
assigned
Step 3
- Click OK, and select
the Security tab and select "Accept any authentication including clear
text", and click OK
- Click Dial to connect
to your ISP.
- Type your user name and
password for your
ATXL.net
account, clear the Domain box, and then click OK.
